The first shots of Jeep’s next generation Wrangler have surfaced and, yes, it still looks like a Wrangler.
The shots, taken by photographers outside Auburn Hills, Michigan, show the heavily camouflaged Wrangler during a recent testing session and were first released by Autoguide.com.
Fiat Chrysler has not said much about the 2018 Wrangler, however industry analysts speculate aluminum will be prominently utilized throughout the vehicle to cut down on weight.
Other main changes look to be a longer front end, wider front flares, fixed windshield, and possible new generation front and rear axles.
Chrysler’s award-winning V6 Pentastar engine will remain as the main power option, but at some point the 3.0-liter turbodisel V6 and a hybrid powertrain will make an appearance.
The next generation Wrangler will be still be build in Toledo, Ohio and is expected to hit showrooms sometime next summer.
